Vision

The OFFICE OF THE PROVINCIAL VETERINARIAN (OPV) is a reliable arm of the Provincial Government of Quezon, with dedicated personnel working in harmony, committed in delivering competent services to the people to ensure food security, veterinary public health, and a dynamic animal industry contributing to the economic growth of the Province.

Organization’s Brief Description

The mandate of OPV is found on Article XIX Section 489 of Republic Act 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991. Accordingly, the Provincial Veterinarian shall:
  • Ensure the delivery of veterinary related basic services;
  • Develop plans and strategies on veterinary related activities;
  • Regulate slaughterhouses;
  • Regulate and inspect livestock and poultry products for public consumption;
  • Enforce all laws and regulations for the prevention of cruelty to animals;
  • Take the necessary measures to eradicate, prevent or cure all forms of animal diseases;
  • Be in the frontline of veterinary related activities, such as in the outbreak of highly- contagious and deadly diseases, and in situations resulting in the depletion of animals for work and human consumption, and Develop livestock and poultry industry.
