Following a successful orientation on the palay procurement process, led by NFA Assistant Branch Manager Fernando Sanque and NFA Grains Operations Officer Manuel N. Erilla, to the members of the Samahan ng Magsasaka ng Palay sa Lucban, Quezon began their initial engagement in palay trading under the National Food Authority (NFA) program this 3rd day of June 2025.
The Office of the Provincial Agriculture (OPA) of Quezon, under the leadership of Ana Clarissa S. Mariano, DVSM,EnP , through its Agri Enterprise Development Division Head Sherwin Kenneth Deloraya and Marketing Unit Head Philip Aldwin Co, facilitated the first transaction involving 1.95 metric tons of dried palay with a moisture content of 14%. The transaction was processed via the NFA Fast Lane, ensuring efficiency and fair pricing.
The NFA offered a procurement price of PHP 24 per kilo, significantly higher than the local tradersโ average buying price of PHP 17 per kilo in the area. This price difference benefits local farmers and encourages more participation in government-led marketing programs.
Future trading transactions under this initiative are expected to continue throughout the remainder of the current harvest season.
