Ano nga ba ang monkeypox?
Ayon sa World Health Organization (WHO) ang monkeypox ay isang sakit na dulot ng monkeypox virus. Isa itong uri ng viral zoonotic infection, ibig sabihin ay maaaring manggaling sa hayop at maipasa sa tao.
Ano ang mga sintomas ng monkeypox?
Kabilang sa mga karaniwang sintomas ang lagnat, pananakit ng ulo, pananakit ng kalamnan at likod, paglaki ng kulani (lymph nodes), matinding pagkapagod, at pantal na may paltos na maaaring lumitaw sa mukha, kamay, paa, katawan, mata, bibig, o ari.
Paano ito naipapasa sa tao?
Nakakahawa ang monkeypox sa pamamagitan ng malapitang pisikal na kontak sa taong may pantal, lalo na kung may face-to-face, skin-to-skin, mouth-to-mouth, o mouth-to-skin na interaksyon.
May bakuna ba laban sa monkeypox?

Tunay na kahanga-hanga ang husay at galing ng mga Quezonians!
Isang maalab na pagbati ng tagumpay sa ating mga natatanging kabataang Quezonian na nagbigay karangalan sa ating lalawigan sa Palarong Pambansa 2025.
Sa larangan ng Dancesports Championship, wagi sina Kirsten Marthena Blaire S. Bacher at Gabriel Pangilinan ng dalawang (2) silver medal para sa Grade A Standard (Single Dance Viennese Waltz), at apat (4) na bronze medal para sa Single Dance Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, at Quickstep. Isang patunay ng kanilang dedikasyon, disiplina, at sining sa bawat galaw.
Hindi rin magpapahuli sa tagumpay si Peter Cyrus Dean, na nag-uwi ng pitong (7) medalya. Tatlo (3) rito ay gintong medalya sa 200-meter backstroke, 100-meter backstroke, at 200-meter individual medley, tatlong (3) silver medals para sa 50-meter backstroke, 4×50-meters medley relay at 4×100 meters medley relay at isang (1) bronze medal sa 400 meter individual medley.

Orientation on the Palay Procurement
Date: May 28, 2025
Venue: Lucban Municipal Hall
The Lucban Municipal Agriculture Office, headed by MA Sonia O. Catchuela, hosted an Orientation on the Palay Procurement Program on May 28, 2025, at the Lucban Municipal Hall. The activity was an initiative of the Provincial Agriculture Office, under the leadership of Ana Clarissa S. Mariano, DVSM, EnP.
The primary participants and beneficiaries of the program were members of the Samahan ng Magsasaka ng Palay sa Lucban, Quezon, a federation comprising rice farmers associations from 22 barangays in the municipality. The activity aimed to inform and prepare local farmers for effective participation in the National Food Authority’s (NFA) procurement programs.
The orientation was facilitated by the Agri Enterprise Development and Marketing Division, led by Division Head Mr. Sherwin Deloraya and Marketing Unit Head Mr. Philip Aldwin Co. The session was conducted by Mr. Fernando Sanque, Assistant Branch Manager of NFA Lucena Quezon, along with NFA staff members and classificator.
To qualify for participation in the NFA’s palay procurement program, farmer associations must meet several compliance and eligibility requirements. They are required to maintain an active bank account to facilitate all financial transactions. Additionally, these associations must be legally registered with either the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), or the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA). Furthermore, the palay to be sold must be newly harvested and properly dried, free from any pest infestation, and must comply with the 14% moisture content requirement set by the NFA.
Additionally, the orientation featured a discussion on the Palay Marketing Assistance Program for Legislators and Local Government Units (PALLGU). This proposed initiative, supported by the presence of Municipal Councilor Hon. Reynante Abuyan, Chair of the Committee on Agriculture, is designed to assist local farmers through enhanced pricing and LGU-facilitated procurement strategies.
The activity concluded with the partial composite sampling of palay from selected members of the federation. The remaining samples are scheduled for delivery to the NFA office on May 30, 2025.
This orientation served as a vital platform to equip Lucban rice farmers with the knowledge and tools necessary to engage effectively with the NFA, thereby supporting local agricultural productivity and sustainability.
