To commemorate the 18th founding anniversary of Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth), PhilHealth Regional Office IV-A led the provincial government of Quezon’s regular Monday flag raising ceremony this February 11, 2013 in front of the Capitol Building.
According to Alberto Manduriao, Regional Vice-President, PhilHealth was established back in 1995 with the goal of keeping its members healthy, safe, and secure through the benefits the company provides.
Manduriao added that the total number of members sponsored by the provincial government of Quezon have reached 10,600 as of 2012, with the company remunerating Php 184,057,00.00 to the hospitals in the province – attesting to the active health campaign headed by the local government.
Manduriao also said that PhilHealth now provides additional benefits for member regarding diseases like pneumonia, cancer and leptospirosis. Benefits are also available for maternity care, kidney transplants, dog bites, and more.
In the message of Provincial Administrator Rommel Edano, he said that Governor David “JayJay” C Suarez places a particular importance in ensuring the good health of his fellow Quezonians. The young governor does this by providing responsive health programs for his constituents, particularly providing PhilHealth insurances for the province’s indigent population.
Edano said that it was a challenge to the local government sectors when PhilHealth increased its premium in order to provide more and better benefits for its members. But because Quezon was able to set aside enough funds for PhilHealth’s lock-in program, the provincial government sponsored over 10,000 needy residents.
A nationwide fun run hosted by PhilHealth is set to run its course this February 17, 2013. Around 18 provinces in the country will take part in the said run, with Greenfield City, Sta. Rosa, Laguna being the venue for CALABARZON. (Quezon PIO)
