Millions’ worth of various projects was recently unveiled in the three towns of Polillo, Burdeos, and Panukulan, headed by Quezon Governor David “Jayjay” C. Suarez, along with the distribution of Serbisyong Suarez Health Coupons to barangay captains last July 28.
Polillo Mayor George P. Versoza, his Vice Mayor Ramil Fajardo, as well as town and barangay officials, warmly welcomed the arrival of Gov. Suarez, 2nd District Board Member Romano Talaga, and Claro “Gerry Boy” Talaga Jr. – son of former Board Member Claro Talaga Sr.
It was past 9 am when the activities commenced, with Fr. Olet Avenilla blessing the newly-opened computer laboratory in Polillo National Highschool. The said building has 25 computer units, computer tables, and 2 air conditioning units – all totaling to 1.5 Million pesos. The computer laboratory will be accessible for educational use by 1,363 PNHS students.
An hour after, a program took place at Polillo Covered Court to formally open the unveiling of projects in Polillo, along with the distribution of health coupons to the 33 barangays that make up Polillo and Panukulan. A barangay from the island of Balesin was also a recipient of the Serbisyong Suarez Health Coupons, amounting to 825,000 pesos.
In his speech, Gov. Suarez enumerated the series of projects he had laid out for the towns, which amounted to a total of 47,700,000 pesos. The projects are as follows: Construction of Polillo Medicare Hospital (16 Million), Concreting of Polillo-Burdeos Provincial Road (11 Million), Construction of Polillo Rural Health Unit – improvement of BEmONC Facility (1.5 Million), Construction of One-Classroom Computer in Polillo National High School (1.5 Million), Repair of Bislian Elementary School (300,000), Repair of Siphon and Construction of Canal Lining of Calasumanga CIS (2.5Million), Construction of One-Classroom Computer in Panukulan National High School (1.5Million), Concreting of Poblacion, going to Banugay Provincial Road in Panukulan (1Million), Repair of Calasumanga Elementary School in Panukulan (300,000), Repair of Matangcap Elementary School in Panukulan (300,000), Repair of Pagitan Elementary School in Panukulan (3000,000), Repair of Panukulan Central School in Panukulan (300,000.00), Repair Kalubakis Elementary School in Polillo (300,000), Repair of Languyin Elementary School in Polillo (300,000), Repair of Pamatdan Elementary School in Polillo (300,000.00), Repair of Pelion Elementary School in Polillo (300,000.00) and Concreting of Polillo-Burdeos Provincial Road (10Million – Polillo side, and 10Million – Burdeos side).
According to Gov. Suarez, aside from these, more projects are in store for the towns for the following year. He also took the opportunity to thank the barangay captains of the towns, who were in complete attendance during the event, for coming and supporting the programs of the Provincial Government. He also expressed his gratitude to the Serbisyong Suarez Scholars, and the students from Southern State University (SLSU) Polillo, whose Officer in Charge, Marites De Leon, he personally spoke to in order to discuss adding the course Hotel and Restaurant Management in their offerings.
The students in Polillo, as well as their parents, were pleasantly surprised when they learned of Gov. Suarez’s plan to have the staff and workers of the new Six Star Hotel in Balesin Island come from their town.
Mayor Versoza showed his appreciation for the efforts of the Father of the Province, Gov. Suarez, and the various projects and aids he has imparted the people of Polillo. Versoza also asked the governor for funding, to be allocated for the repair and improvement of the Health Center in their area, which Gov. Suarez quickly agreed to, and added that he will also add another school building in their town.
Senior Board Member Talaga of the 2nd District adamantly supported this, as he sees that what the good governor wants is for the good of his province and his constituents. He also added that for the number of projects Gov. Suarez has set up in Quezon, the two years he has spent in office is seemingly too short.
During the program, the Provincial Government also granted financial support to Gov. Napoleon Landicho (Governor to the Agta, Aeta, and Dumagat Tribes) amounting to 17,000 pesos for their “Tulaog Festival” that will run from the 2nd to the 4th of August.
The 25 barangays of Burdeos, Patnanungan and Jomalig also received Serbisyong Suarez Health Coupons worth 625,000 pesos from the Provincial Government.
Various infrastructure projects were also inaugurated in Burdeos, amounting to 18,500,000 pesos, which consist of the following: Concreting of Burdeos-Polillo Provincial Road (10Million), Construction of Protection Works Canal Lining of San Rafael-Cabugao CIS (3.5Million), Construction of One-Classroom Computer Building in Burdeos National High School (1.5Million), Construction of One-Classroom Kindergarten School Building in Burdeos Central School (1Million), Construction of One-Classroom Kindergarten School Building in Calutcot Elementary School (1Million), Repair of Aluyon Elementary School (300,000), Repair of Anibawan Elementary School (300,000), Repair of Cabugao Elementary School (300,000), Repair of Cabungalunan Elementary School in Burdeos (300,000), Repair of Tulan Elementary School in Burdeos (300,000).
Projects for the towns of Jomalig and Patnanungan are also set to be unveiled in the following week. (Quezon PIO)
