The fun run for Quezon’s 2 in 1 kicked off successfully last week, in front of Quezon Capitol, July 24.
Even before the clock struck 5 am, participants already started lining up for registration. At exactly 7 am, those entered in the 5k category got on their marks and set off. Those in the 3k category followed suit a few minutes after.
The said fun run is divided into two categories, with the 3k category having the Capitol-Quezon Medical Center-Capitol route and 5K with Capitol-Camp Guillermo Nkar-Capitol.
For the 3k male category, Aldrin Agyang won 3rd place, having the time of 10:40, while Nimrod Cesar received 2nd place with the time of 10:35. Elmer Reyes bagged 1st place with the time of 9:42.
Alyssa Tamayo ran a total time of 13:35, seizing 1st place for the 3k women’s division. Elsie Delin got 2nd place, with the time of 13:39, while Regine Hecayo trailed after her at 3rd place, 14:41 minutes.
In the 5k category, Randy Moreno, race bib 411, time at 18:25 minutes, snatched 1st place from Luis Penid, race bib no. 848, who consequently landed 2nd place at 18:26 minutes. For the 3rd place, Democrito Pingol, with the race bib. No. 1002, received 3rd place with the time of 18:57 minutes.
For the women’s, Ana Jean Tamayo with the race bib. no. 1006 snagged the gold, with her time at 20:30. Janice Tawagin, race bib no. 421, followed at 2nd place with 23:37 minutes, and Mary Ann Perez, race bib no. 1003, at 3rd place, 37:51 minutes.
The fun run aims to widen public awareness about the Quezon’s 2-in-1 Project, in order to entice interested individuals and various organizations to take part in the actual mangrove planting on June 30. More than 700 individuals took part in the fun run.
