September 25, 2012 marks a milestone in the history of Agriculture and Fisheries Council Multi-Purpose Cooperative (AFC-MPC), with the Bureau of Animal Industry’s (BAI) goat dispersal,under the AGRIPBES (Accelerating the Generic Resource Improvement Program for Beef, Cattle and Small Ruminants)Program, otherwise known as PL480.
During the ceremony entitled “Kaibigan, Katuwang Ka sa Pag-Unlad ng Kalidad ng Produksiyon ng Ating Kambingan” held at the Quezon AFC Business Center inBrgy. Gulang-gulang, Lucena City, Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Gerald C. Montierro emphasized the proper raising and propagation of goats for livelihood.
The recipients of the goats were also provided with packs of vitamins, de-wormers and antibiotics for the care of the acquired parent stock. Dr. Montierro said that the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian will also monitor the project to ensure the success in the increase of goat population in Quezon province, with the improved breeds of Anglo-Novian and Saanen goats. These breeds, though expensive, are more resilient to diseases and produces better quality meat and milk.
QPAFC Chairman James M. Argosino gave the opening remarks, while QPAFCMP BOD Chairman Dr. Rodrigo G. Monterey gave the program perspective, and RAFC Chairman Engr. Renato Maza imparted the attendees with an inspirational message.

Cantara – Cantara Goat Farm, Lucena City; Rosalio Fulgar – Fulgar Ecological Farm, Pagbilao; MacarioLandicho – Landicho Integrated Farm, Tiaong; RodilParas – Lucena City; Quezon PAFCMPC – Cooperative Integrated Farm, Lucena City.
